Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania will jointly host AFCON 2027

It is official, East Africa will host AFCON in 2027!

This was announced on Wednesday afternoon by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe in Cairo during the organisation's ExCo.

Motsepe highlighted the fact that commitment by the East African Heads of States played a pivotal role in ensuring the EA Pamoja bid won.

"Presidents Ruto (Kenya), Suluhu and Museveni were very instrumental and committed to ensuring the tournament will be succesfully hosted in East Africa. The movement of people in these three countries during the tournament is important and we are guaranteed that everything will be okay," Motsepe said while making the announcement.

Nigeria and Benin had also presented a joint bid while Algeria pulled out from hosting the continental showpiece. Senegal was also interested but at the end if it is Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania that convinced the CAF ExCo with a strong joint bid according to Motsepe.

Earlier on Morocco, as expected, was granted the hosting rights for AFCON 2025.
