Musha and Bandi will be out for an unspecified period.
AFC Leopards have announced that two of their players, Lewis Bandi and goalkeeper Abubakar Musha, have undergone surgery to repair their torn meniscus.
The club announced on their social media pages that the duo had gone under the knife in a bid to recover from the injuries, which have kept them out of action for months.
“Bandi last featured for the club in our Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup match against Kakamega Homeboyz last season, while Musha is yet to play for us. We wish them a speedy recovery as we look forward to seeing them back on the pitch soon,” the club announced.
Bandi joined the club in 2021, coming onto the pitch after then-club assistant captain Isaac Kipyegon was pulled off by a hamstring injury during a league match against KCB at the Kasarani Annex.
He went on to become a regular on the team until the injury hit. Musha, on the other hand, signed a three-year contract with the Leopards in August and has yet to feature for the club.
The young goalkeeper was among the players brought on board to strengthen the Leopards after their transfer ban was lifted by the world governing body, Fifa.
Elsewhere, Kenya Police coach Zdravko Logarusic has expressed concern that five of his players may not be fully fit to play on Saturday against Nzoia Sugar in Bungoma.
The players are with their respective national teams for the ongoing World Cup qualifiers. The five are the South Sudanese duo of Rashid Toha and Tito Okello and Patrick Matasi, Abud Omar, and Kenneth Muguna, who are away with the national team Harambee Stars.
“I have not had the players for about two weeks now since they left to join their national teams, and my concern is the fact they have been travelling a lot, and that can affect their performance".
"I am not sure about their fitness levels, but one thing I am sure about is that they will not be able to give me 100 percent during the match,” he said.
Logarusic will be looking for his fourth win of the season since he replaced Francis Barasa, the Kenya Police coach.
