The decision of BVB's forward causes the dissatisfaction of Julian Nagelsmann, who's in charge of the senior national side

Turning down your national team in any sport, at any level, has always been, is and always will be an issue that causes various discussions.

The latest name on that long list of 'traitors' is Borussia Dortmund's forward of Nigerian descent, Karim Adeyemi, who has turned down a call-up to represent the Germany U21 squad, according to Bild.

Adeyemi, 21, decided to turn down the opportunity as he wants to continue training with Borussia Dortmund to gain a better chance of cementing a place in the starting lineup.

This Adeyemi decision was accepted by the German Football Federation (DFB) and his U21 coach, Antonio Di Salvo, but it has not gone down well with the senior team head coach, Julian Nagelsmann.

The forward has had a difficult season so far, as he is yet to clock a full 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has shown some positive glimpses in his last four games, though, as he has provided two assists.

Adeyemi is hoping to regain his form as he will have one eye on competing at Euro 2024 for Germany.
