Former KCB creative midfielder Antonio Abwao is looking forward to return to the pitch and hit the ground running at Ulinzi Stars once he completes his military induction.

The lanky player was among hundreds of recruits who graduated early this month at the Moi Barracks, Eldoret in an exercise overseen by President Uhuru Kenyatta and was posted to Thika Barracks.

Abwao hit the headlines in January last year when he joined the bankers from National Super League side Migori Youth where he had starred alongside forward, Clinton Okoth who was head hunted by record champions Gor Mahia.

The two had single-handedly shouldered Migori's hopes in the league but didn't last at the club as the two top flight heavyweights came for their signatures with KCB narrowly edging Tusker for Abwao's services.

Abwao prays that his bosses will grant him his wish to pick from where he left and conquer the top flight after failing to play consistently at KCB.

" I really hope that I will get the opportunity to play in the league after induction. I am thirsting to play again and create scoring opportunities after being away for some months. Before then, I am focused on the military assignments," he said.

Another player who graduated from the Recruits Training School is former FC Talanta forward Roffin Matolo.

The latter joined the newly promoted side in 2019 after he was spotted in a grassroot tournament held in Makueni. Matolo, who made his Talanta debut during the 2019 edition of the KECOSO Games, left the club last year upon the expiry of his contract.
