Despite providing an assist, Abuya's Nkana went down 2-1 to Teddy Osok's Kitwe United who recorded a first win of the season after 23 games

Two Kenyan internationals, Duke Abuya and Teddy Osok, faced off today in the Zambian Super League when bottom placed Kitwe United shocked Nkana FC 2-1 in the league’s Bola Yapa Zed clash to record their first win of the season after twenty-three games.

Duke Abuya was named in the starting lineup for Nkana FC while Teddy Osok started for Kitwe United. Just days after beating Tanzanian side Namungo FC in both legs to progress to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup, Nkana got off to a perfect start early on in the game.

Abuya combined brilliantly with Freddy Tshimenga just outside Kitwe’s box as he set up Nkana’s opening goal in the second minute as Tshimenga fired past the goalkeeper. Abuya’s side would hold onto the narrow advantage until the half time break.

The second half would prove to be a different affair as Osok’s Kitwe pulled together to get the job done. Clive Biyeta scored the equalizer for Kitwe in the 67th minute before Nkana’s goalkeeper Talbert Shumba gifted Kitwe a precious winner with a costly mishandling error in the 90th minute of the game, handing the relegation threatened side a much needed three points.

That 2-1 win was the first time Kitwe has won a match this season after playing twenty-three games this season, ending a five match losing streak in the process. Although the result will get them going, Kitwe United still sit bottom of the log on a paltry 11 points. Nkana FC on the other hand stayed in sixteenth position on 21 points.
