Former Tusker FC left back Abud Omar aided Ionikos to their four consecutive win in Greece.
Kenyan international Abud Omar started for Ionikos in the 1-0 win over Panachaiki in the Greek Super League 2 on Sunday.
Ionikos left it late in the game as they needed a 93rd-minute winner from Georgios Manalis to extend their winning streak to four games.
Since returning from an injury that he suffered on Tuesday 9 February Abud has started all the games for Ionikos and been a vital cog in the team’s well-oiled wheel.
The win strengthens their grip at the summit of the Super League 2 standings as they now hold a three-point buffer against Levadiakos.
Ionikos are now strong favourites to return to the Greek Super League heading into the Promotion Play-Offs with only five games left till the end of the season.
The former Tusker FC left-back started the game brilliantly as he made inroads into the Panachaiki half before releasing a shot that stung the palms of the goalkeeper.
Abud was again at it in the 63rd minute as he delivered a pinpoint cross to Vangelis Platella from the left flank but the Greek winger saw his shot cannon off a forest of bodies.
The 28-year-old who was a constant menace to the Panachaiki defence almost delivered the opener in the 86th minute as his cross found the head of Mihalis Kouiroukidis but he headed wide.
Panachaiki’s sturdy resistance was finally broken in the 93rd minute as they dropped to the relegation play offs spot.
