A shock in Milan: Inter lose all three points

Udinese made a surprise and won 2-1
Six days ago, Inter looked rampant, dominant, and convincing. Tonight, they were pale, clueless, and beaten. The five-goal hammering of Torino in the season opener clearly gave a false impression of Cristian Chivu’s squad, which after just the second round already trails the teams with maximum points – Napoli, Juventus, Roma, and Cremonese – by three. At the Giuseppe Meazza, Inter were defeated by Udinese, who drastically improved their impression compared to their opener against Verona and showed they have considerable quality – 2:1 (2:1).
1 - #Inter suffered their first defeat of the league season in their second game, their earliest defeat in a #SerieA season since 2018-19 (a debut defeat v Sassuolo). Stop.#InterUdinese

Admittedly the visiting team found itself in a situation to play in the way that suits them best – quick counterattacks, in transitions that seriously disrupted the home side’s plans. Even an early lead wasn’t enough for Inter, as Denzel Dumfries opened the scoring in the 17th minute, only to then handle the ball in his own box 12 minutes later, which the game’s best player, Keinan Davis, converted from the penalty spot. And France's Arthur Atta stunned the San Siro five minutes before half-time with a beautiful curling strike which would give Udinese a win few would have predicted prior to kick-off. Federico Dimarco was denied a thumping leveler shortly after half-time when Marcus Thuram was caught offside and after that the hosts huffed and puffed to little effect against Udinese's resilient defence. After the international break, Inter will travel to face their old rivals Juventus, who squeezed past Genoa with Vlahovic netting for the second time in as many games after being taken off the transfer list.
