Evan Ferguson joins West Ham on loan until the end of the season
It was the 2022/2023 season, and Evan Ferguson was just 18 years old. Yet, he had already scored 10 Premier League goals. The British public was captivated, and the young Brighton striker was widely hailed as the next great Premier League forward.
So highly rated that he became Tottenham's top target once it became clear Harry Kane was heading to Bayern Munich. Spurs were so convinced Ferguson was the right man that they were ready to invest serious money. The only thing that stopped them was Brighton's insistence on an astronomical 140 million euros price tag—an amount Daniel Levy would never agree to pay.
This is a player who can become elite.

Injuries and lack of game time have halted his progression, but class is evident.
A loan at Arsenal could change the course of the club’s journey and his career.

The following season wasn’t as successful for young player, but he remained a hot topic in the media as Chelsea also showed interest in him. However, nothing materialized, as he suffered a knee ligament injury in April.
Nothing was the same after that. He missed the first few weeks of this season and, in total, played only 237 minutes in the Premier League. A six-week absence due to an ankle injury didn’t help either.
Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck recovered, making it clear that Ferguson’s situation wouldn’t improve in the spring. Joao Pedro remained Brighton’s first-choice striker.
Fulham showed interest, but Brighton was still waiting for updates on Welbeck. Then, names like Tottenham, Bournemouth, and even Chelsea were mentioned, but West Ham was the most determined and has now officially signed the 20-year-old Irish striker on loan in an attempt to revive his career.

However, he will have only six months, as West Ham reportedly paid a hefty loan fee but didn’t secure a purchase option. On the bright side, the Hammers are managed by Graham Potter—the very coach who handed Ferguson his Brighton debut.
