Manchester United's total debt is 619,000,000 - 48,000,000 in the last year only...
Old Trafford club is preparing for big changes, which concern the ownership structure and the entry of Sir Jim Ratcliffe into Manchester United. And as expected - the data regarding the club's operations for the last year have come to light. A contract of over one billion euros was signed, record revenues were achieved, salaries were cut, and the struggling English giant is again in the 'red'!
Manchester United did not manage to reduce debt, on the contrary, during the 2022/2023 season, the deficit increased. The total debt is a dizzying 619,000,000 euros, however, as long as it does not affect the business - and it does not - it does not represent a noose around the neck. The giant from Manchester is functional, but surely those responsible are not happy that despite all the positive things related to commercial income, no profit was made. Or at least that it is a 'positive zero'.

In the summer months, Manchester United signed a ten-year contract with Adidas worth 1,048,000,000 euros. The long-term partners made an agreement and put it on paper until 2035, and at the Theater of Dreams they recently bragged about ticket sales being at a record high, as well as visits to the club platforms.
However, all that was not enough for United's transition from the 'red' to the 'green'...
In the past year, the Manchester club achieved an income of 745,000,000 euros, which is the most in the club's history so far, and predictions are that this year, due to playing in the Champions League, it will reach as much as 682,000,000. Maybe this year will be the year when they will finally turn a profit. Last year, they were in the red by 48,000,000 euros, even though salaries were cut by 60,000,000.
The Red Devils spent 204,000,000 on investing in the playing staff this summer alone. The most was spent on the signatures of Rasmus Hojlund (75,000,000), Mason Mount (64,200,000) and Andre Onana (50,000,000), and the money was also allocated for the loan of Sofyan Amrabat (10,000,000) and the Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir (5,000,000). A portion was amortized by sales in the amount of 55,340,000, but the deficit grew due to the signing of new contracts with Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot, and the increase in their earnings.
When you look at the numbers and what's going on, it's a little clearer why the hated Glazer family all these years, despite pressure from fans, refuses to sell the club and let someone else run it. If they agree to sell 25 percent of the shares to Sir Jim Ratcliffe for around 1,500,000,000 euros, they will remain the majority owners - the expensive toy will be in their hands and they will continue collecting most of the profit...
