The team finished in 23:14 ahead of Ethiopia who clocked 23:21 for silver and hosts Australia who came home in 23:26 to deny South Africa a podium place that would have seen an all-African podium.
This is the second time that Kenyans have won the mixed relay at the World Cross Country after their 2017 gold.
Wanyonyi clocked 5:41 in the first lap to bring the baton home in second place behind South Africa.
Mirriam was second on the course and she completed the 2km run in 5:58, maintaining second place for Kenya but it was the hosts that had gone ahead in the second lap.
Munguti had a brilliant 5:09 lap, closing the gap for the Kenyans to hand the baton to Brenda with an eight-second lead and the world silver medalist did not disappoint as she held on for gold.
