
Victor Kipchichir defends Eldoret City Marathon title

Emily jebet claimed gold in the ladies category
Victor Kipchirchir has successfully defended his Eldoret City Marathon crown after coasting to victory in the fourth edition held in the streets of the town on Sunday morning.
Kipchirchir clocked two hours, thirteen minutes and ten seconds to retain the title although he did lower the time he recorded last year where he claimed top honours in 2:08:56.

The former Valencia Marathon champion won gold while under pressure from Michael Mutai who was second in 2:13:23 and Josphat Kipkoech who swept away the bronze medal after timing 2:13:55.
Timothy Kosgei and Felix Kiptoo completed the top five bracket after coming in fourth and fifth respectively after crossing the finishing line in 2:14:34 and 2:13:38.
In the women's category, Emily Jebet succeeded Mercy Kipchumba after cutting the tape in 2:29:58. Sharline Toroitich settled for silver 2:30:13 with Lilian Jelagat claiming bronze after clocking 2:30:23.

Emily Jepkemei and Jackline Chelal sealed the fourth and fifth places in 2:30:52 and 2:32:21.
The winners in either category are set to receive 3.5 million with the top twenty in each also getting cash awards from the organizers.
