Tonui and Kipkerio triumph in ultimate test ahead of WXC Belgrade 2024

The Kenyan athletes celebrate a double win in Belgrade on Saturday in an 8-kilometre race

Kenyan athletes Albert Kipkorir Tonui and Phyllis-Cheboriot Kipkerio triumphed in their respective races in the 57th White Cross, which took place in Belgrade on Saturday.

Tonui, 23, triumphed in 23 minutes and 34 seconds, while Kipkerio, 31, clocked 28:59.

Another Kenyan, Hillary Kimayio, finished third in the men's race, while Valentine Jebet ended as a runner-up in the women's.

The 8-kilometre race has traditionally been held in Belgrade since 1966 and has the Bronze Permit Cross Country of European Athletics status. This was a prelude and the ultimate test ahead of the World Athletics Cross Country Championship, which will be held in Belgrade at this same place on March 30.
