Stanbic’s support for Brigid is also in line with the Bank’s commitment to women empowerment which is core to its operations.

Marathon holder Brigid Kosgei who emerged victorious at the 2022 Tokyo Marathon last Sunday with a course record of 2:16:02 was on Thursday morning treated to a heroic welcome by Stanbic Bank upon arrival to the country.

Kosgei who is Stanbic Brand Ambassador is working with the financial institution to set up a fund to help needy students obtain scholarships. “This will allow less fortunate students from across the country to get a chance at education and a better future,” said the bank’s Chief Executive Officer Charles Midiwa

Kosgei expressed her gratitude to Stanbic saying, “I am honored to have Stanbic Bank as a partner because they have supported and encouraged me throughout my journey. Sometimes all we need is a partner who believes in us because we face numerous challenges in our lives, but these should not deter us from going forth and achieving our goals.

Stanbic has been by my side and inspires me even when I am on the course running. They look at me holistically and have enabled me to grow as an individual and support my family and community,” said the decorated road runner

Mudiwa said, “We are truly proud of Brigid for her stellar performance at the Tokyo Marathon. Brigid has shown us what happens when you believe in yourself and believe that it can be.”

“She epitomizes the spirit of a heroine. One who keeps beating many odds and doesn’t give up. This spirit is aligned to the bank's brand positioning of It Can Be which aims to inspire and encourage people to dream big and achieve their goals,”

Stanbic’s support for Brigid is also in line with the Bank’s commitment to women empowerment which is core to its operations. Through its women proposition DADA, the bank continues to proactively invest in women and their businesses for a more equitable progressive society. Through various financial and non-financial offerings, the bank has managed to on board over 30,000 women under their DADA proposition, and the numbers keep growing.

Mudiwa reiterated the bank’s keenness on supporting the youth through sports and education which will allow the young people to grow and achieve their dreams
