Simiyu, Reline win Nakuru City Marathon

Fresh from winning the Cape Town City Run 12km race, Daniel Simiyu was a cut above his peers as he raced to victory at the inaugural Nakuru City Marathon 21km race.
The Olympian says he has recovered from an injury he had sustained when he fell during a race at the Tokyo Games and is ready for the new season which he readying for through the road races.
"I had a short recovery period after competing in South Afruca but I was confident in my chances and lets just say I don't give up. I am happy for the win as it means my season is beginning well," said Simiu after the win.
Catherine Reline was the 21km champion in the women's category while Cornelius Kemboi and Daisy Jepkemei emerged victorious in the men's and women's 10km races.

Stanbic Bank Kenya Chief Executive, Charles Mudiwa lauded all the participants for their hard work and willpower.
“I would like to congratulate the winners of all the races here today. You are a true embodiment of tenacity and have demonstrated what it takes to set your mind on a target, persevere and follow your dreams. I am also humbled and greatly proud of all the participants who came out here today to take part in the marathon. You have shown us what it means to believe in yourself and follow your dreams. You have indeed shown us that it can be," Mudiwa said.
The Stanbic Nakuru City Marathon is set to take place every year and is expected to draw in larger crowds of participants across the county and beyond. The aim is to create an opportunity for young athletes to come and realize their talents and pursue their dreams.
