Stop her if you can!

Reigning Commonwealth 800m women's champion Mary Moraa continued with her sparkling form in the two lap distance this year as she took home the Silesia Diamond League victory on Sunday evening, clocking 1:56.85 ahead of Ugandan Halimah Nakaayi who finished second in 1:57.78 while Jamaica's Goule Toppin finished third after clocking 1:57.90. The victory for the Kenyan also marked her seasonal best performance this year, usurping her 1:57.43 time in the Laussane Diamond League meeting.

Hitting out straight to the front, Moraa was stuck in behind the race pacemaker Aneta Lemiesz, putting up a 57.08 first lap, and despite being clipped from behind, showed her dominance this season as she raced clear of both Nakaayi and Goule to mark clinch a meeting record time at the same time.

The win for Moraa comes straight after her personal best time over 400m - 50.38 - at the Nyayo National Stadium a fortnight ago, with her maintaining her unbeaten status this year.

Up next for Moraa will be a place in the Monaco Diamond League set for 21 July.

In another race with Kenyan representation, World Under-20 800m champion Reynold Cheruiyot and compatriot Abel Kipsang were left in the wake of the magnificent Norwegian Jakob Ingebritsen as he romped to a 1500m personal best and meeting record time of 3:27.14.

Kipsang, who was the closest challenger to the man looking to smash the world record over the distance, came second clocking 3:29.11, with Cheruiyot setting a personal best of 3:30.30.

Vincent Keter was sixth, also setting a personal best time of 3:31.28.

In the women’s 3000m, national 5000m champion Lilian Kasait came in second to Hailu Freweyni of Ethiopia after being pipped in the last 200m of the race, timing 8:27.80. The other Kenyan in the race - Teresia Muthoni - was fourth, setting a personal best time of 8:29.48.

The 3000m men’s steeplechase was a different kettle of fish for the Kenyan duo of Abraham Kibiwott and Leonard Bett, as they were outstaged by World champion Soufiane El Bakkali- who made a meeting record time of 8:03.16
