Shericka Jackson, Sha'Carri Richardson to headline fierce 200m showdown in Shanghai

A top cast of sprinters has been put together for the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Shanghai/Keqiao, scheduled for Saturday, 16 May.

In an announcement on Wednesday, 1 April, the Diamond League announced that all of Shericka Jackson, Sha'Carri Richardson, Anavia Battle and Amy Hunt will headline a "world-class" 200m event, which will be the second leg of the 2026 Diamond League seasin.

Joining the star quartet will be: Jenna Prandini, McKenzie Long, and Chinese star Chen Yujie completing the field.

The dazzling line-up includes five of the top ten in the world rankings, who have a total of 31 Diamond League wins between them.

Jamaican star Jackson has long been among the greatest 200m runners in the world, with two world titles and three Diamond League titles wins since 2022.

Now world number six, her most recent Diamond League win came in Silesia last year, where she beat the likes of Hunt and eventual series champion Brittany Brown.

World number three Battle will be hoping to emulate the form which saw her win in both Keqiao and Xiamen in the 200m last season.

Richardson will also be hoping to rekindle her best form as she chases a first Diamond League win since 2024.

Hunt and Long, meanwhile, will both be out to claim their first ever win in athletics’ premier one-day meeting series.

The Shanghai/Keqiao leg is set to follow the season-opener in Doha, which as it stands, is still scheduled to take place on Friday, 8 May, depite the ongoing war in the Middle East.

The Wanda Diamond League series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.

The season-ender unfolds across two-days in Brussels on 4-5 September.
