The Kenya Prisons runner will be a lone ranger in the final as the duo of Kirui and Chepkoech failed to qualify
Commonwealth 3000m Steeplechase silver medalist Celliphine Chespol will be hoping to defy odds deliver Kenya's second gold medal in the ongoing World Athletics Championships when she lines up for the final set for Thursday morning.
Chespol was the sole Kenyan athlete to qualify to the final as the trio of World U20 Champion Jackline Chepkoech and the experienced Purity Kirui fell short in the semis held four days ago.
The Kenya Prisons runner will therefore carry the hopes of the country in not only delivering gold and the seventh medal in the championships but also restore Kenya's glory in the water and barrier race.

Additionally, victory for Chespol will help cool the rage in the athletics circles after the duo of outgoing World 1500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot and Abel Kipsang performed dismally in their specialty on Wednesday morning.
A closer look at the fifteen athletes who will be seeking to succeed World Record holder and defending champion Beatrice Chepkoech who missed the Oregon edition owing to an injury places Kenyan-born Kazakhstan national Norah Jeruto as pre-race favorite.
Jeruto made a huge statement of intend to be crowned the world champion in the heats as she completely obliterated the field to book a slot in the final.
Jeruto alongside another Kenyan defector in Yavi Mutile who represents Bahrain are the only athletes who have gone under eight minutes this season, a form that poses a great hurdle to Chespol's bid to clinch gold.
Other seasoned runners in the final include reigning Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai of Uganda who despite fading off in the semis and qualifying as one of the fastest losers bears the potential to heartbreak the Kenyans hearts' again.
Before Chespol takes to the track, all eyes will be on the duo of the newly-crowned World 10000m bronze medalist Margaret Kipkemboi and Beatrice Chebet who will be seeking to advance to the 5000m final.
Kipkemboi struck bronze in the 10000m final held a couple of days ago and will be hoping to lead her compatriot in sealing a place in the final and ultimately upgrade her silver medal over the distance collected in the past edition held in Doha to gold.
The Kenyan duo who will be seeking to succeed Helen Obiri who announced that she will not be defending her title will face off with newly-crowned 1500m silver medalist Tsegay Gudaf of Ethiopia, former Olympic 800m Caster Semenya of South Africa among others.

Reigning 800m Olympic Champion Emmanuel Korir will be in heat one of the two-lap race while the World U20 champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi is placed in heat three.
World Indoor silver medalist Noah Kibet will be in heat five while Commonwealth champion Wycliffe Kinyamal will be in the subsequent one.
The 5000m race is scheduled to gun off at 02:25 AM while the 3000m steeplechase final will start at 05:45 Am. The 800m heats will kick off at 03:20 am, EAT.
