And if being in a scintillating Silesia Diamond League field wasn’t enough, it is now official that Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala will be in yet another 100m humdinger, when he lines up at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Italy on 30 August.
Serving up as the Italian leg of the Wanda Diamond League, the race will bring together four sprinters who participated in the final of the Paris Olympics, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
Alongside Omanyala, who was also at the Olympic Games, will be one of the most crazy lineups including: Kishane Thompson (Jamaica), Fred Kerley (United States), Marcell Jacobs, who won Olympic gold in Tokyo three years ago, and Letsile Tebogo (Botswana).

Completing the list of the cast will be other world speed superstars such as American Christian Coleman, Japan's Abdul Hakim Sani Brown, Jamaican Ackeem Blake, and Italy's Chituru Ali.
The field closely resembles the 25 August Silesia Diamond League meet list, which includes all the aforementioned big hitters, with the exception of Brown and Tebogo.
The mind will return to the evening of Sunday, 4 August, when an extraordinary 100 final was held in Paris.
Seasonal world leader Thompson (9.77 in June) lost by just five thousandths of a second to American Noah Lyles, running 9.79, just two hundredths better than bronze medalist Kerley (9.81), while Jacobs whizzed by in 9.85 and Tebogo in 9.86.
Omanyala missed the Olympic final but this year was able to run 9.79, Coleman in 9.86. In essence, the race in Rome will feature six men with season bests of 9.86 or lower.
For Kerley it will be a return to the Golden Gala after the victories of the last two seasons: the American triumphed in 2022 at the Olimpico in Rome with 9.92 and in 2023 at the Ridolfi stadium in Florence with 9.94.
Jacobs will return to Rome less than three months after winning the gold medal at the European Championships, won with a time of 10.02 ahead of the other Italian Ali (10.05).
