This is the third victory for the Kenyan in as many starts

Picking up from where she left in Doha, and Rabat, 22-year-old Nelly Chepchirchir dictated the race at the Paris Diamond League (DL) on Friday 20 June to win the women's 1500m in a season best (SB) time of 3:57.02.

The 2024 Paris Olympics semifinalist who holds a personal best (PB) of 3:56.72 from 2023 ran a tactical race, sitting behind the pacer and Ethiopia's Birke Haylom as the latter ensured a decent speed that put the runners in a single file early on in the race.

Heading to the third lap, the lanky Kenyan took charge, comfortably cruising to the last 300m with Haylom still keeping close while the rest of the field played catch up. On the final bend, it was still anyone's race and Chepchirchir had to dig deep for victory.

She saw off Sarah Healy who was closing hard in the last 50m, running out of track as her quest to beat the Kenyan, but not without a reward as she ran a 3:57.15 PB for second.

Haylom settled for third 3:57.50.
