
Nandi Road race champions to grace Belgrade Marathon next year

Weldon Langat and Faith Cherono will grace the 2023 edition of the Belgrade Marathon by virtue of winning the Mozzart Bet powered Re-discover Nandi road race
Apart from the cash prizes and certificate of participation awarded to the top ten athletes in either category, the top athletes earned invites to the Belgrade Marathon owing to an agreement between the organizers and Mozzart Bet.
Langat clocked thirty minutes and a second to win the men's race while Cherono cut the tape after thirty four minutes and twenty seconds to be named the new winner on the ladies' side.
The firm's country manager Sasa Krneta reveales that he had been assured by the local organizing committee that the the winners of the Nandi 10km race would earn invitation to the Belgrade Marathon.
Krneta said the firm would cater for the air tickets for the duo as well as accommodation should their managers veto their client's invitation to run in the Serbian capital.
"We have an agreement with the ogarnizers of the Belgrade Marathon to invite the winners of the Nandi Road race to run in the Serbia. We will only proceed with the plan if the athletes agree to be part of the marathon. We will cater for the air tickets and other expenses, " he said.
Meanwhile, Fred Kiptanui the founder of the Nandi 10km race disclosed plan to revamp next year's edition including introducing medals and working on the loose ends identified on Sunday.
Kiptanui further thanked Mozzart Bet and the other partners for supporting the race and boosting the efforts to conserve the environment through tree planting.
"The event was a success once again thanks to the support we received from the title sponsor. We intend to make it even better next year," he said.
