Africa's finest middle and long distance stars are set to descend on the Cote d'Azur on July 21.
Kenya’s two-time Olympic and World champion Faith Kipyegon will return to familiar grounds as she headlines the women's 1500m in the Monaco Diamond League set for 21 July 2023.
Back in August 2022, the 29-year-old came very close to smashing the World Record over the distance at the venue as she managed to run the second fastest time in history (3:50.37) after missing the record by just 0.30 seconds.

The year before, the double Olympic champion had again come close to Genzebe Dibaba’s mark of 3:50.07 set in 2015 at the same venue, missing the record by just one second then.
After claiming her third Wanda Diamond League title in 2023, Kipyegon will be seeking to clinch her fourth career Diamond in the current season.
The Kenyan ace claimed victory at the season-opening race Doha Diamond League Outing with a world-leading time of 3:58:57.
Elsewhere, fellow Diamond League champion Emmanuel Korir will also be flying the flag for Kenya in Monaco, as he too eyes a fourth title this summer in the men's 800m.
Korir has not won in Monaco since his first-ever Diamond League victory back in 2017 and will be hoping to break that jinx.
Meanwhile, Uganda's Olympic bronze medalist Jacob Kiplimo will take on 2021 Wanda Diamond League champion Berihu Aregawi in the men's 5000m. Ethiopia's Aregawi lost his title in 2022, but managed to set a meeting record of 12:50.05 in Eugene.
The Diamond League comprises 14 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 13 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on 16th-17th September.
