Kosgei, who clocked 2:16:25 to win last year's race, also won the Garoto Ten Miles and the Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon last year. He is opening his season in Brazil on Sunday.

He will be joined by his compatriots William Kibor, winner of the Rio and Las Vegas Half Marathons in 2016, and Vestus Cheboi Chemjor, champion of the São Paulo Marathon in 2023, who comes to the competition with grit and determination, standing out among the best runners on the current scene.

Tanzanian Charles Boay Sulle, who placed fourth in the Kilimanjaro Marathon, completes the list of the top elite marathoners set to compete.

In the women's category, all Kenyans' eyes will be on Vivian Jeftanui Kiplagat, winner of the São Paulo Half Marathon in 2023 and the São Paulo City Trophy in the same year.

She faces Tanzanian Natalia Elisante Sulle, winner of the Volta da Pampulha in 2015, who is the quickest on paper. Ethiopian Haregeweyni Hads Alemayehu, runner-up in the São Paulo Marathon in 2024, is also on the start list, with her 2:44:58 the second quickest time.

In addition to the marathon, the competition will feature three other official distances: 21km, 10km, and 5km.
