
Kipsang, Tefera renew rivalry in Birmingham

The two will face-off with Olympic 1500m bronze medalist and Scottish record holder Josh Kerr
In a repeat of the World Indoor Championships in Serbia, bronze medalist Abel Kipsang will on Saturday 21 May lock horns with champion and former world record-holder Samuel Tefera at the Birmingham Diamond League (DL) 1500m race.
On-form Kipsang has already run a world leading 3:31.01 championship record time at high altitude during the Kip Keino Classic and managed 3:35.70 in the season-opening Doha DL where he beat world champion Timothy Cheruiyot.

In Serbia, Tefera sprinted past race favourite Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the final 50 meters to win gold in a championship record time of 3:32.77. Ingebrigtsen finished second in 3:33.02 and Kipsang took third in 3:33.36.
The two will face-off with Olympic 1500m bronze medalist and Scottish record holder Josh Kerr, who is leading a strong British contingent that includes Piers Copeland who is the British indoor champion and Welsh indoor record holder, and George Mills, the 2016 European Under-18 champion.

Other International stars already announced include Olympic 1500m finalist and Australian national record holder (outdoors) Stewart McSweyn and Ollie Hoare who is also an Olympic 1500m finalist and the Australian national record holder (indoors).
Meanwhile, the men’s 800m in Birmingham includes world champion Donavan Brazier and Olympic silver and bronze medallists Ferguson Rotich as well as Polish runner Patryk Dobek.
