Kenyan trio of Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi nominated for Track Athlete of the Year

World Athletics has unveiled the nominees for the 2024 Women’s and Men’s Track Athlete of the Year awards, recognizing exceptional performances in track events throughout the year.

Among the nominees are Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet, Faith Kipyegon, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi, all of whom secured gold medals at the Paris Olympics.

A total of six athletes have been nominated in each category, reflecting the wide variety of track disciplines. However, only two finalists will be chosen for the prestigious award.

This year’s nominations highlight remarkable achievements at key competitions such as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the World Athletics Indoor Championships, and several high-profile one-day events around the world.

Voting for the Track Athlete of the Year finalists is open on World Athletics' social media platforms and will close on 27 October.

Additionally, the nominees for Field Athlete of the Year were revealed on 14 October, while those for the Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year will be announced on 28 October.
