The curtains of the national U20 trials rolled down on Friday 28 June as youngsters showcased resilience and zeal to book a slot to the World U20 Athletics Championships slated for August 27-31 in Peru, Lima.
800m women final (Qualifying time - 2:09)
Sarah Moraa Orobi clinched first place with an impressive time of 2:00.01, surpassing the qualifying time of 2:09.
Janet Jepkemoi Amimo followed closely, securing second place with a time of 2:03.18, while Judy Kemunto claimed third spot, finishing with a time of 2:08.18.
800m men final (Qualifying time - 1:50:50)
Kelvin Kimutai Koech emerged victorious with a remarkable time of 1:46.77, well below the qualifying mark of 1:50.50.
He was closely followed by Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech, who finished in 1:46.93, and Nelson Mapi Setek, who clocked 1:47.32.
Danson Kiplangat Mutai secured fourth place with a time of 1:48.56, while Justice Kipkoech rounded out the top five, narrowly meeting the qualifying standard with a time of 1:50.26.
1,500m women final (Qualifying time - 4:27:50)
Sheila Jebet delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place with a time of 4:19.38, comfortably below the qualifying mark of 4:27.50.
Hot on her heels was Miriam Chemutai Kibet, who finished second with a time of 4:19.51 while Mary Nyaboke Ogwaka claimed third place, clocking in at 4:19.95.
1,500m men final (Qualifying time - 3:48:00)
Collins Kibiwott Koech led the field with an impressive time of 3:41.50, surpassing the qualifying standard of 3:48.00.
Jospat Sang Kipkurui followed closely, finishing in 3:42.20, with Nelson Mapi Setek securing third place with a time of 3:42.61.
Emmanuel Kipngetich Yegon and Ezekiel Kipkorir rounded out the top five, clocking in at 3:45.83 and 3:46.16, respectively.
3,000m men final (Qualifying time - 9:32:00)
Clinton Kimutai Ngetich dominated the race, finishing in an impressive time of 7:48.09 to secure first place and easily surpass the qualifying mark of 9:32.00.
Following closely behind was Denis Kipkoech Kemboi, who clocked 7:48.48 to claim the second position.
Brian Muange Musau secured third place with a time of 7:51.03, while Daniel Kinyanjui finished fourth in 7:52.57.
Charles Rotich crossed the line in 7:58.26 to take the fifth spot, followed by Ronald Kipkoech Ngetich in sixth place with a time of 8:00.04. Edwin Kimosong Kisalsak completed the race in 8:04.32
3,000m s/c women (Qualifying time - 10:38)
Diana Chepkemoi demonstrated her dominance with a superb performance, crossing the finish line in a commanding time of 9:51.51, well below the qualifying standard of 10:38.
Judy Chepkoech followed with a strong effort, securing second place in 10:04.71, while Sharon Chepkemoi claimed the third spot with a time of 10:22.48. Sharon Chepkirui Sanga completed the top four finishers, clocking 10:36.91.
5,000m women (Qualifying time - 16:30)
Mercy Chepkemoi and Sheila Jebet engaged in a thrilling battle, finishing neck-and-neck with times of 15:55.23 and 15:55.26, respectively, comfortably surpassing the qualifying mark of 16:30.
Mercy Jelimo secured third place with a strong performance, clocking 15:57.24, closely followed by Faith Chepchumba in fourth with a time of 15:57.81.
Brenda Jepchirchir completed the top five finishers in 16:01.58, while Florence Chepkoech and Celestine Mantaine finished sixth and seventh with times of 16:09.12 and 16:18.45, respectively.
5,000m men (Qualifying time - 14:08)
Ishmael Rokitto Kipkurui seized victory with an impressive time of 13:42.71, comfortably surpassing the qualifying standard of 14:08. Andrew Kiptoo Alamisi followed closely in second place, finishing just behind in 13:43.54, while Shadrack Rono Kipkemei secured third with a time of 13:45.07.

Ronald Kipkoech Ngetich and Edwin Kimosong Kisalsak battled fiercely for fourth and fifth places, crossing the line in 13:48.17 and 13:48.29, respectively.
Charles Rotich rounded off the top six finishers with a strong performance, clocking 13:49.15.
Walking race (Qualifying time - 43:50)
Stephen Ndangiri Kihu delivered a standout performance, crossing the finish line in a remarkable time of 43:17.19.
