The 26-year-old made a promising start to life in the new event at a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting in Metz on 8 February, clocking a personal best time of 1:59.07.
The time made rounds as it also set a national record, with Broeders-Bol becoming the first Dutchwoman to break the 2:00 barrier indoors.
A subsequent foot injury, however, forced her to miss the rest of the indoor season, staying close to four months without any competitive action.
Competing in Ostrava is not new to Broeders-Bol, as she has been appeared thrice in the event, winning twice in 2020 and 2022 over the rare 300 Metres Hurdles, and finishing third in the 400m last year in 49.98.
Should the two-time world 400m hurdles champion opt to make national history again, she will have to dig deep into 1992 Olympic Champion Ellen Van Langen’s time of 1:55.54.
After Ostrava, Broeders-Bol is expected to compete in the 800m again, this time at the FBK Games in Hengelo five days later on Sunday, 21 June.
Other standout athletes confirmed for Ostrava include: World indoor 60m champion Jordan Anthony, who will take on US compatriot Ronnie Baker in the men’s 100m, sprint star Noah Lyles, who faces rising talent Gout Gout over 150m.
100m hurdlers Devynne Charlton and Nadine Visser; pole vaulters Emmanouil Karalis and Katie Moon,1000m hopeful Josh Hoey, and European silver medallist Mohammed Attaoui will grace the event.
