The double Olympic champion missed the World Record by 0.3 seconds

Faith Kipyegon's world-leading 3:50.37 victory in the 1500m at the Monaco Diamond League last month has been voted August's Moment of the Month, according to a poll by World Athletics.

By doing so, Kipyegon floored Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Netherland's Femke Bol, Botswana's Letsile Tebogo, and Jamaica's junior 4X100m team of Serena Cole, Tina Clayton, Kerrica Hill, and Tia Clayton.

Shelly-Ann had been nominated for her world-leading 10.62 100m victory at the same event as Kipyegon where she became the first woman in history to run six times under 10.70 in the same season.

Tebogo and Jamaica's 4X100 team were picked for their exploits at the World U20 in Cali, with the Dutch's European champs triple gold in the 400m, 400m hurdles, and 4x400m earning her the spot.

Kipyegon came so close to smashing the World Record over the distance, managing to run the second fastest time in history and missing the record by just 0.3 seconds.

The 28-year-old clocked 3:50.37 to finish first and book a slot in the Diamond League final, setting a new National Record, a Personal Best, and the World Lead in the process.

From the gun, the Kenyan followed the pacing duo of Jamaica’s Tracey Adelle and USA’s Allie Wilson through the first two laps, sticking to the guiding wavelight as she led her competitors by a huge distance.
