Kipchoge is now sharing the wisdom behind his success through a brand-new training app.
Created in partnership with NN Running, the free app, named Kotcha, is designed to give athletes and running enthusiasts unprecedented access to Kipchoge’s training routines, habits, and philosophies.
The aim is to help users train and think like the Olympic and world marathon champion, without losing their own identity.
According to Tech Funding News, the French startup, Kotcha, is revolutionising the running world with its AI-powered coaching platform designed to make elite-level training accessible to every runner.
By blending advanced artificial intelligence with sports science, Kotcha delivers adaptive training plans, real-time feedback, and personalised guidance that replicates the experience of having a personal coach — all within a mobile app.
The company has announced a successful €3.5 million (Ksh524,020,000) funding round led by Racine2 (operated by Serena and makesense), with participation from True Global, Motier Ventures, and several prominent investors from the sports, health, and consumer sectors.
The investment underscores growing confidence in AI-driven fitness solutions as the demand for personalised performance technology continues to rise.
Kotcha plans to use the new capital to expand its footprint across Europe and beyond, scaling its team with additional engineers and sports scientists while enhancing its proprietary AI coaching engine.
The startup aims to redefine how runners train and improve, offering world-class coaching experiences to a global community of athletes.
“Everyone keeps asking me about my secret. Today, I take a new step to pass it on... Train like me, run like yourself," Kipchoge wrote on Instagram, announcing the app.
Set for a launch on iPhone on Thursday, 23 October, Kotcha keeps a few surprises under wraps, but the App Store has already revealed one delightful preview: a recipe for ugali. That is the Kenyan staple that fuels Kipchoge’s legendary runs.
High in carbohydrates and beloved by the runner, ugali may just be the secret ingredient to powering your long-distance training.
To make ugali the Kipchoge way, slowly pour two cups of maize flour into a pot containing four cups of boiling water, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the sides of the pot.
Let it steam on low heat for a few minutes, then serve it hot in a dome shape alongside greens, beans, or meat. Following tradition, it is eaten with the hands, by pinching off small portions and rolling them into balls before taking a bite.
The Kotcha launch comes hot on the heels of Kipchoge’s recent races. He finished ninth at the inaugural Sydney Marathon this year and placed sixth at the London Marathon, where he has claimed four victories.
The timing is perfect, as Kipchoge prepares for the 2025 New York City Marathon on Sunday, 2 November.
This will be his first appearance at the iconic US race and his seventh and final Abbott World Marathon Majors (AWMM) race in the original Six Star series, meaning the coveted Six Star Finisher medal is almost within reach.
