Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge has sent a powerful message of encouragement to Formula One icon Lewis Hamilton as the British driver embarks on a new chapter of his illustrious career with Ferrari.
Hamilton ended his 12-year association with Mercedes last month and is set to compete under Ferrari from the 2025 season, a move that will mark the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
The British driver, who won seven titles with Mercedes, the last in 2020, is hoping that the Italian manufacturer will provide career improvement.
Kipchoge praised Hamilton for his resilience and courage in making the bold career move.
“Dear Lewis, change is never easy but it is always the stepping stone to greater horizons. As you step into this new chapter, I want to remind you of the incredible strength and resilience you have shown throughout your career,” Kipchoge posted on his Instagram account.
Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari, which takes effect from the 2025 season, has been the talk of the motorsport world.
The deal, reportedly worth £41 million annually, will see Hamilton take over Carlos Sainz Jr’s seat and partner Charles Leclerc in a formidable lineup aimed at restoring Ferrari’s dominance in Formula One.
Drawing parallels between his sport and Hamilton’s journey, Kipchoge emphasized the importance of perseverance and adaptability.
“Like the marathon, life requires us to adapt, endure, and continue moving forward despite challenges. Your decision to move from your team is a courageous step but courage has always been a part of the journey.
Trust in your preparations, stay true to your values, and remember that every end is a new beginning,” the two-time Olympic champion continued.
Kipchoge’s message reflects the admiration many have for Hamilton, whose career with Mercedes saw him clinch his first title in 2008 and achieve a dominant streak of victories between 2014 and 2020.
Despite a challenging recent period for the Silver Arrows, Hamilton’s talent and determination have remained undisputed.
“Keep inspiring the world with your speed, grace, and unbelievable determination. Champions like you always find their way to victory. Run your race, Lewis,” Kipchoge urged Hamilton.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is anticipated to bring fresh energy to the Italian manufacturer, which has faced its share of challenges in recent years.
