Deaflympics: Two more medals for Kenya on track

Kenya’s medal tally after Friday's action was at 16. The games end on Sunday 15 May
Kenya bagged bronze medals in both women's 200m and 4x100m relays at the ongoing 24th Summer Deaflympics in Caxias Do Sul, Brazil on Friday.
Beryl Wamira finished third in women's 200m in 25.50 seconds, behind Pamera Losange of France and Oceana Brown of USA who finished first and second in 23.93 and 24.92 respectively.

In women's 4x100m, the Kenyan team of Wamira, Anzazi Nyondo, Rael Wamira and Linet Fwamba finished third in 51.15. Ukraine finished first in 48.96 ahead of USA who timed 50.25.
"When I started the race, I was really hoping for a silver but I have an injury. Almost at the finish line I got beaten but a bronze is better than nothing," said Beryl who is also the Team Kenya Deaf women's captain.

She continued, "I have had a problem with my hips since 2017. I have gone to hospitals so many times for check-ups, an x-ray was even done but the doctors said they found nothing wrong. But when I am training or running I can feel the pain."
With the additional two bronze medals, Kenya’s medal tally at the Games, which end on Sunday 15 May increased to 16 (three gold, four silver and nine bronze). Kenya is top in Africa and 12th globally.
