The race will come a year and two weeks since the two were separated by five thousandths of a second in Paris
World champion Noah Lyles will face Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s Olympic 100m final at the Diamond League meeting in Silesia on Saturday, 16 August.
The pair, who were separated by five thousandths of a second in last year’s final in Paris, were confirmed for the meeting on Monday, 4 August, exactly the same date the dramatic race took place.

Then, Lyles and Thompson had to be separated by a photo finish, with both athletes clocking 9.79.
Their first head-to-head clash at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial will therefore come a year and two weeks later, potentially painting a bigger picture - a dress rehearsal for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September.
The announcement comes at a time when Lyles is embroiled in a bust-up with fellow American sprinter Kenny Bednarek, after the duo exchanged words at the end of the 200m race at the U.S. track and field championships.
Lyles, whose season was slowed by injury, stared down at Bednarek as he crossed the finish line first, before the latter responded with a little shove on the world champion.

The pair exchanged words all the way into the post-race interview, with Bednarek telling Lyles: “If you’ve got a problem, I expect a call.”
The meeting in Silesia will be Lyles’ debut and third Diamond League race this season, coming after a second-place finish to Oblique Seville in London.
Thompson, on the other hand, holds the fastest time in the world this year (9.75) and claimed a first-ever Diamond League win with an impressive 9.85 at the Prefontaine Classic early last month.
Victory for either man could see them qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich on Wednesday, 27 and Thursday, 28 August.
Thompson is currently third in the 100m standings on 13 points, while Lyles is outside the qualification spots in 14th.
