Former World Half Marathon Championships silver medalist Cynthia Limo dominated this year's Honolulu Marathon women's race to defend her crown, winning in 2:31:14 as she led a Kenyan sweep in the Elite women's category.
The victory, nearly two minutes quicker than her time last year, makes her the first repeat winner since fellow Kenyan Brigid Kosgei did it in 2016 and 2017. She was awarded $25,000 (Ksh3.2 million) for her exploits.
Limo, who clocked 02:33:01 last year, led a Kenyan sweep, with Sandrafelis Chebet finishing in second place (2:31:48), while Judith Jeptum Korir (2:36:17) completed the haul for Kenya in the women's race.
Meanwhile, Yemane Haileselassie clocked a personal best (PB) time of 2:11:59 to deny Kenya's Reuben Kerio who came home in 2:12:16 for second place, having finished third last year. Kensuke Horio completed the podium places at 2:15:30.

"I’m happy for today’s performance and grateful that Honolulu welcomed me back. This year has been incredible for me," she opened up.
Limo won by a 2-minute, 14-second margin last year, but this time was pushed by her countrywomen as Chebet finished 34 seconds after Limo pulled away in the last two kilometers. "She (Chebet) was strong but when I pulled away at 40 and still felt strong, I knew I would win."
