Omanyala finished behind Noah Lyles in the men's 100m.

World 5000m silver medalist Beatrice Chebet, fresh from winning the Commonwealth Games title, was unstoppable as she clocked 14:44.25 to win the Berlin ISTAF meeting, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver competition held on Sunday.

Chebet had a dominant race that saw her finish more than eight seconds clear of second placed Henes Elly who came in second in a personal best (PB) time of 14:52.87.

Another Kenyan, Commonwealth games bronze medalist Selah Jepleting came in third place, clocking 15:10.14. Eva Cherono’s season best time of 15:27.87 could only afford her fifth place.

Meanwhile, World Under-20 1500m champion Reynold Cheruiyot was back in action after his victory at the junior championship in Cali, Colombia.

The 18-year old clocked 3:35.04, leading a fast race that saw eight runners set personal bests and season bests.

Great Britain’s Mills George was second in a 3:35.30 PB as Parsons Sam completed the podium places with a 3:36.22 PB.

In the sprints, Commonwealth Games champion and Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala faced off with two-time world 200m champion Noah Lyles who stepped down in distance to 100m.

The American won the race convincingly in a season’s best of 9.95 as Omanyala came second in 10.11.

African record-holder Marie-Josee Ta Lou continued her strong finish to the season by winning the women’s 100m in 10.94.

Despite the -1.2m/s headwind, the Ivorian sprinter still managed to take 0.04 off Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s meeting record from 2015.
