Belgrade 2022: Omanyala wins heat 2 to qualify for 60m men's semi
Reading Time: 1min | Sat. 19.03.22. | 13:07
The semifinals are scheduled for 8:20PM EAT
Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala won heat two of the 60M race in a time 6:62 time to qualify for the semifinal while Mario Burke from Barbados finished second in 6:64, just short of his 6:63 best this season.
Expectations were high for the national record holder (6.57 seconds) who finished fourth at the Meeting in Lievin, France, just three weeks ago and he delivered in Heat 2. Omanyala will dazzle the Serbian crowd in the Štark Arena later in the afternoon (20:40 Nairobi time) for the semifinals, and hopefully in the finals (23:20) the same day.

After the race, Omanyala was in good spirits, as always, and was full of confidence.
“I feel nice. I didn’t want to put much pressure on myself in the heats, but from the semi-finals, I will push harder to get through to the finals. Everything is fine as far as conditions in Belgrade are concerned, everything is in place, and I’m having fun.” he said.
