Collins Kipruto failed to qualify for the 800m finals after finishing fourth

Noah Kibet made it to the Men’s 800 finals after today’s heats in World Athletics Indoor Championships, but Collins Kipruto finished fourth in his heat and therefore failed to qualify for the final.

Kibet, a junior Bronze medalist had a great race from lane 6, from where he soon took the number 3 position in lane 2, and was drifting between third and fourth position until the last round, when the youngster just took off and won with 1:48:31, ahead of the American Bryce Hoppel, who finished at 1:48:77.

In the Heats 4 , Kipruto took the lead from lane 5 and had it until the final lap, when USA's Harris took the lead while Kipruto lost pace and eventually finished fourth.

"Everything was fine until the last round. I was in the lead, ran the fast as I could, but around 70m before finish, I stumbled on the track and felt a discomfort in my left hamstring. I didn’t want to push it any more, so I slowed a bit." Kipruto told Mozzart Sport after the race.

Noah Kibet was happy with his race and promised to do even better in the final set for Saturday.

“It will be tough, but I will do my best tomorrow in the finals. I started from Lane 6, but tried and managed to get a good position for the rest of the race and I maintained it.” said Kibet.
