Day 4 of the World Championships has already delivered for Kenya with star boy Emmanuel Wanyonyi cruising to the semi-finals of the 800m.
The 21-year-old will be gunning for his maiden gold at the World Championships after narrowly losing to Canada's Marco Arop back in Budapest in 2023.
Kenya’s other representatives in the 800m heats had mixed fortunes. Alex Kipng’etich, competing in heat one, finished sixth in 1:45.94 and consequently, failed to advance.
Kelvin Kimtai Loti, however, ensured Kenya had a second semifinalist after placing second in heat two.
