Police retrieved the body and transferred it to Iten Mortuary leaving a community trying to heal from the brutal killing of Agnes Tirop last year with more trauma.

The alleged assailant is said to have informed athletes in Iten about Muthee's fate through a phone call from Ethiopia. The Ethiopian athlete is said to have told his friends in Iten that he had done something bad triggering the search for Damaris.

A visit to the house they shared at Lillies estate greeted them with foul odour which promoted the search party to break down the door. They noticed the body and immediately called police who processed the scene before moving the body to the morgue.

Athletics Kenya are yet to issue a statement regarding the killing as the slain athlete is a Bahraini national.
