Athletics Kenya urges all athletes to familiarize themselves with these additional requirements and adhere to them diligently to avoid last-minute setbacks

Kenyan athletes aiming to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics must undergo a minimum of three out-of-competition tests by July 4, 2024, or face exclusion from the prestigious event.

This directive stems from a circular issued by Athletics Kenya, notifying athletes of the new and rigorous out-of-competition testing requirements established by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) in preparation for this year's Olympic Games in Paris.

In accordance with Rule 15 stipulations for Category A federations, all Olympic hopefuls must fulfil the mandate of undergoing at least three out-of-competition tests.

Additionally, as per Rule 15.5.1(c), athletes are obligated to undergo their initial out-of-competition test at least 12 weeks before the commencement of the Olympics, slated for July 26.

"The deadline for the first out-of-competition test is May 3, 2024; failure to comply will render affected athletes ineligible for Olympic participation," states the announcement.

Furthermore, the deadline for completing all three out-of-competition tests is July 4, 2024, after which non-compliant athletes will be ineligible for Olympic participation.

These no-notice out-of-competition tests will be administered by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) and documented in the Anti-Doping Administration Management System (ADAMS).

Athletics Kenya urges all athletes to familiarize themselves with these additional requirements and adhere to them diligently to avoid last-minute setbacks.

The federation emphasizes that it will rigorously enforce these regulations and will not include any athlete who fails to comply with them in the national team representing Kenya at the Olympics.
