Vancouver 7s: Shujaa hoping to deliver against big boys

The Kenya national men’s rugby 7s side, Shujaa will have their mettle tested when they come up against the USA, Singapore 7s champions Fiji, and a limping England side.

Innocent Simiyu’s charges are coming off a disappointing Singapore 7s where they failed to make the cup quarters after defeats to the USA and South Africa in pool matches.

In their opening match of Vancouver, Shujaa will come up against a slippery USA side who narrowly beat them 12-10 in Singapore in a game that has become infamous for Daniel Taabu’s botched conversion despite being in front of the posts.

Kenya will hope to contain the pace of Mike Friday's charges who have speedsters in the name of Perry Baker, Carlin Isles and Kevon Williams.

The 2016 Singapore champions will come up against a rejuvenated Fiji side who won the latest edition of the Singapore 7s as they aim to make up for lost points after missing a number of legs due to Covid-19.

Kenya will then close Matchday 1 with a clash against England who are going through a rebuild and finished a disappointing 13th back in Singapore.

Shujaa will have to work on their restarts after looking shaky in all the matches as they failed to score the first try in any of their games in Singapore.
