Kenya Lionesses will kick off their Dubai 7’s International Invitational Women’s Category campaign by locking horns with their fellow Africans Tunisia on Thursday 1 December, 2022 at 1.20pm in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Lionesses will be looking to better their impressive performance, after their dream to qualify for the 2023 World 7’s was halted in Chile early August, 2022 following a 22-15 loss to Japan.
Their second match will be against African Giants South Africa at 3.40pm. Day two kicks off on Friday when they will face France Development at 2.00pm.
I have earlier today seen off the Kenya National Women Rugby Team at JKIA who departed for the International Dubai 7s. The Lionesses had been left behind by the men team, Shujaas. Allowances for both teams are being paid direct to them. Kenya Rugby Union must manage rugby better. pic.twitter.com/XH0gy11AW5

The Lionesses are placed in Pool A alongside South Africa, Tunisia, and France Development. Speaking on the tournament preparation Lionesses Coach Dennis Mwanja said that his charges are placed in an exciting Pool, doubled up with gauging themselves as they gear up for the 2024 Olympics.
“It is going to be an exciting pool as it is a precursor to the African qualifiers for the 2024 Olympics. On the readiness of the team", the former Shujaa Captain said that the side has been constantly improving and learning. Also Mwanja has fielded a rather younger squad for this tournament. “Our journey has been a steady one, we are constantly learning and building. We have a fairly younger squad for this tournament.” He said.
The Kenya Lionesses will leave for the #Dubai7s this afternoon.

He said, “Neeting France, which is a seasoned side, will be a very good measure for us because that is the level we aspire to reach.”
The team will be captained by Judith Okumu.
