Nakuru RFC are on a rebuilding phase with their combinations yet to deliver results.
Top Fry Nakuru have endured a torrid string of results after suffering their sixth consecutive loss of the season at the hands of KCB on Saturday with assistant coach Simon Wairuki opening up on the reason behind their poor form.
Wairuki is standing in for head coach Felix Oloo who was in charge of the Kenya Lionesses in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics women seven’s tournament where they finished 10th.
In his absence, Nakuru are yet to pick up a win, going down to KCB, Impala Saracens Strathmore Leos and Kabras Sugar with the latter two being heavy defeats and to losses against Menegai Oilers and Mwamba.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Wairuki noted that the blend of young and experienced players is yet to pay dividends but he is looking to tighten some loose ends ahead of upcoming games.
“We are trying to incorporate young players with more experienced players so that combination has not really worked well for us but this season we aimed to bring in young players and try different combinations,”
“The last few matches have not worked for us but I think the combination that we fielded against KCB did a good job, I will stick with the combination and improve on a few areas here and there,” said Wairuki.
Nakuru only have two wins to their name this season, beating Blakblad and MMUST in their season openers and are yet to pick up victory since March.
Wairuki added that despite losing 26-13 to KCB, the game was an improved performance after the 44-5 loss to Strathmore Leos last weekend and will be making good use of their two-week break to prepare for the Nondescripts clash.

“The boys played well, considering we played the defending champions and also coming off a disappointing week, we really improved on the mistakes made against Leos, come the next game we hope for a better result,”
“It’s all about the mental preparations, we know the mistakes that we did, we have two weeks to prepared for our match against Nondies which we expect a win,” added Wairuki.
