The Tigers play Gators on Sunday noon in the last regular season game
Kenyan tennis star Angella Okutoyi was on the winning side once again this season for her school - Auburn University Women’s Tennis team - as she won both her singles and doubles matchups to see her team cruise past South Carolina 5-2 on Saturday 15 April morning at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Okutoyi had to do it the hard way in her singles match against Elise Mills as she fought back from a 6-7 (4) second set set-back to claim a nerve-wracking third set match tie-break after initially breaking out to a 6-3 lead in the opener.
In the doubles, Okutoyi lined up with her usual partner Adeline Flach as they cruised to a straight set victory over South Carolina’s duo of Elise Mills and Gracie Mulville.
School mates Ariana Arseneault, Carolyn Ansari and Ana Cruz also registered wins in the singles matchups to give Auburn their eight SEC victory of the season that left a good impression on team coach Caroline Lilley.

"When you are knocking on the door and nobody answers, eventually you just decide to bust through," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley was quoted on the Auburn Tennis website. "From the first point to the last, our young women stayed committed to playing their tennis. One-percent improvements in how we rest, how we fuel, how we hydrate, how we recover, how we study, and how we go about our daily business add up quickly. Our pursuit of improvement remains our primary focus."
Auburn has a 8-4 record in SEC matches this season and a top-four seed in next week's SEC Tournament is on the line as Auburn closes out the regular season Sunday at home against the Florida Gators.
The match at the Yarbrough Tennis Center will also serve as Auburn’s Senior Day.
