The Serbian has mathematically secured 418 weeks at the ATP summit
Since the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic has not been on the court, and the points difference compared to the competition and the number of guaranteed weeks at the top of the ATP list are only growing.
The biggest "credit" for that this time goes to Carlos Alcaraz, who failed to defend last year's results from South America. The young Spaniard fell in the semifinals in Buenos Aires, where he was the champion last year, while in Rio de Janeiro, where he was a finalist in 2023, he now had to give up the match after two games due to an injury.
Therefore, Carlitos did not defend the points and now his gap behind Djokovic has increased (it will officially be from Monday) to 1,050 points, and it was 750 this week.
At the same time, this means that Novak has ensured that he stays at the top of the ATP list until April 1st, even if he doesn't play until then. And that's a guaranteed 418 weeks on the throne. He is slowly but surely on his way to an absolutely incredible 500 weeks in the top position, although he still has a long way to go.
Carlos Alcaraz x Rio Open, it's been a story:

On the other hand, Djokovic has yet to return to the court, he is registered for the Masters in Indian Wells and Miami, where he has not played for five years, so he can only win points. Two placements to the finals of those tournaments would only significantly increase his advantage over his rivals and allow a few more weeks on the throne before it's time to defend his title at Roland Garros.
