Swamibapa take on big-hitters as Kongonis search for maiden victory in NPCA double-header weekend

Swamibapa skipper Rushabh Patel says his team is “under no worries” as they head into a crucial Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) double-header weekend.

Swamibapa, only second to leaders Sir Ali Muslim Club by net-run-rate, will take on third-placed Sikh Union on Saturday at Nairobi Jaffrey’s, before visiting the table-toppers on Sunday.

Speaking about his team’s form going into the weekend, Patel said: “There are no easy matches in this league. We try to go game by game without worrying who is coming next.

“The fielding and bowling efforts we’ve shown is fantastic.”

On Saturday Sir Ali A will take on Kanbis A, with Sikh Union A playing hosts to Ruaraka A on Sunday.

Meanwhile Kenya Kongonis will go out with the hope of getting their first win of the competition when they come up against Cutchi Leva (SCLPS YL A) on Saturday before visiting Ngara Sports Club A on Sunday.

Their skipper Tom Ojijo believes Kongonis’ dressing room is still positive, and will rely on the experience of Alex Obanda and Shem Ngoche to finally land on the win column.

“We have a nice balance in our squad and the essence for now is to just focus on one game at a time - staying positive and looking to enjoy our cricket,” he said.

Stray Lions will also be seeking to get their first win of the tournament when they come up against Nairobi Gymkhana before hosting Cutchi Leva on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Divisions One and Two have several fixtures in the city sure to treat fans to some exhilarating displays.

On Sunday, Stray Lions C play Goan Institute B at Nairobi Jaffrey’s in a Group A Division 3 match.

Swamibapa Development, on the other hand, play Nairobi Royals at Jamhuri in another Division 2 match.

Like the Super Division, Division One has 10 fixtures (5 on Saturday) on both days of the weekend.

Sir Ali Muslim Club B play Kanbis B at Sir Ali, while Obuya Academy A Hosts Stray Lions B at Lenana.
