24-year-old Victoria Reynolds is setting her eyes on the podium with the 3 by 3 basketball team in the Commonwealth Games slated for this month.

Although she has not been majorly active in 3 by 3, Reynolds remains a pillar in the forward position having played for the Kenya Lionesses and the Williams and Mary University in the United States where she is based.

Asked about her ambitions at the upcoming Commonwealth Games, the American-based basketballer said that she is hoping for a podium finish in Birmingham.

“To win! I mean hopefully we can get a podium finish I believe that's what it's called. But of course, you want to get gold, but podium finish is the main objective. Individually I just wanna do my best to ensure a podium finish. The feeling (of being called to the national team) still a year later has not yet hit me. I'm happy that we won honestly especially after you know a lot of doubt I guess. I like to compete and I'd like to see how far I can take myself and also my teammates. 3 by 3 is a lot different than 5 on 5 that's what I've learned, and I've been in camp for a little shy of a week so just getting adjusted to the pace of the game and remembering like this is not 5 on 5, there's no risk to know, you just go go go,” she observed.

She comes from a basketball playing family, her mother Sabrina Reynolds and Father Bernard Wanjala both played basketball to the highest level.

The American-based player further said that she is doing her best to adapt from the 5X5 to 3X3 where it feels different from what she is used to.

“So slowly I'm adopting; 5 on 5 we get bricks someone takes the ball after they make a shot, you get a little downtime and then you go again. 3 on 3 when someone makes the shot you just go again there's no breaks until maybe there's a foul or a dead ball, but just conditioning; conditioning is so different. Well, I play well with Melissa, we play 5 on 5. Medina, Hilda, Leslie, Stella and Debra, I am getting used to, but within time I am sure chemistry will be there,” she added.
