Okutoyi and Smriti will now face first-seeded Balu Sharmada and Leon Sebastiani in the championship decider on Saturday morning.
Kenya’s 18-year-old tennis ace Angella Okutoyi atoned for her first-round exit in the second W15 ITF Women's World Tour tournament currently ongoing at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi as she sailed through to the finals of the Doubles category alongside her Indian partner Basin Smriti.
In the quarterfinal match staged on Friday, the pair made light work of their opponents as they only needed an hour to record a straight set 6-2, 6-4 victory over fourth-seeded Tothova Emma (Slovakia) and Yuldasheva Sevil (Uzbekistan) before receiving a walkover in the semifinal match played afterwards.

To set up the last 8 tie, Okutoyi and Smriti had picked a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win over Reha Kipsang (Kenya) and Sonia Tuyishime (Rwanda) while Emma and Sevil had knocked out Mane Snehal (India) and Riley Alexandra (USA) following a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the first round leading to the quarter-final final.
Okutoyi, who became the first Kenyan player to reach an ITF World Tennis Tour final in the first W15 tournament held last week, was left disappointed in the second edition as she was knocked out in the first round in Singles after succumbing to a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(4) defeat against first seeded Emily Seibold on Thursday afternoon.
The 22-year-old German started on the front foot as she took the first set 6-4 but Okutoyi got into gear in the second set and forced the game into a deciding third set which was pushed all the way to the tiebreaker with Seibold just managing to get the upper hand as she nicked it 7-4 to advance to the second round and send home favorite Okutoyi crashing out.
Okutoyi and Smriti were set to face Alexandra Iordache and Magdalena Stoilokovska in the semifinals but the duo retired mid-match with Okutoyi's team leading 3-0 in the first set.
The duo will now face first-seeded Balu Sharmada and Leon Sebastiani in the championship decider on Saturday morning.
