Kenya Morans forward Ariel Okal Koranga has called for proper preparation for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers window set for Egypt in July this year.
Kenya lost all their matches in the opening window held in Senegal last month, suffering heavy defeats of 105-51, and 100-55 to Egypt and Senegal respectively, and almost going toe to toe with the Democratic Republic of Congo but still lost 66-56.

However, the lanky forward believes that Kenya still stands a chance of making it to the World Cup if, and only if, they prepare adequately for the upcoming window.
“Well, I feel our preparations were not done the right way because many of the players, including myself, joined camp later as many of the leagues are still on. However, in July, the situation will be different because many leagues would have been concluded, thus giving enough room for us to hit camp early to prepare for a successful outing in Cairo,” he is quoted saying on Citizen Digital.
The team that traveled to Senegal had seven local-based players and five foreign-based ones, with the foreign-based legion linking up with the team directly in Dakar from their respective clubs.

Okal feels that arrangement did not do service to the team, noting that there is a likelihood that fatigue affected the performance of the Morans, and has now called for earnest preparations.
“Fatigue played a huge part due to the late arrivals. There is more to winning than just joining camp and lining up on the court and I feel we must have everything at the right place in the next window,” he added.
