Boys’ national and FEASSSA volleyball champions Cheptil failed to book a ticket to Kakamega after they were eliminated by Trans Nzoia’s Andersen in the regional semi-final and a new champion is set to be crowned
Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two games have been slated for Tuesday 8 to Saturday 12 August at Kakamega School.
After tough battles from the sub-county to regional level, the best in the eight regions converge with targets firmly set on the national titles as well as slots to the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) games slated for Huye, Rwanda later this month.
Kwanthanze Girls volleyball prowess is the stuff of legends. Year on year they have school games on a chokehold.

But I am super impressed by the Sunday league wababas who have game. There is a guy who has received twice and had me really cheering 👏 🔥 🏐 https://t.co/k1Avb3jArg
In the lead up to the national games, giants have fallen, others have made comebacks while perennial winners are back to continue their dominance.
Leading the charts on dominance are six-time national champions who are also the African champions and multiple East Africa holders Kwanthanze girls’ volleyball team who are back in search for their fifth-consecutive title.
The Justin Kigwari-coached girls are favourites not only in pool A where they are set to face off with rivals Soweto (Nairobi Region), Vyambani (Coast Region) and North Eastern's representative but also in the competition.
In pool B are reigning silver medalists Kesogon from the Rift Valley who are grouped with Central's Karima, Nyakach Girls from Nyanza and hosts Mwitoti from the Western Region who were a fresh revelation last year, finishing third.
“Last year, we lost to Kwanthanze both at the national and East Africa finals. This time, we want to ensure we get it right and beat our rivals if we meet again. We are plotting on how to end their (Kwanthanze) dominance but we are aware it is not going to be easy,” Kesogon coach Gilbert Kaisha told the Star.
Unlike the girls’ category, boys’ national and FEASSSA champions Cheptil, failed to book a ticket to Kakamega after they were eliminated by Trans Nzoia’s Andersen in the regional semi-final.
Hosts Namwela who lost in the final last year are drawn in pool A alongside Eastern's Tumaini Secondary, Vitengeni from the Coast region and North Eastern's representative.
The new kids on the block, Andersen are pooled alongside 2004 champions Tetu, Nairobi's Ruthimitu who are making a second appearance after denying Hospital Hill the Nairobi region title for the second year running, and Nyanza's Onjiko Boys in pool B.
All semifinalists will book a ticket to the FEASSSA games in Huye City, Rwanda.
