
KSSSA games enter semi-final stage in Eldoret

Schools from Western Kenya have performed well in the games so far.
The Kenya Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (KSSSA) term one games entered the semi-finals on Friday 28 April despite the harsh weather.

RUGBY
Eastern-based All Saints and Butula High School of Western Kenya will face off in the final that will be held on Saturday 29 at the Eldoret Sports Club.
All Saints, coached by Benson Kinyua edged St Anthony's Boys, Kitale 18-05 in the first semi-final. They (All Saints) managed five-pointers through Emmanuel Obutu, and Peter Otieno. Only one try was converted by Josephat Karanja who also scored a penalty.
In the last semi-final, Butula High School hit Ofafa Jericho 18-00.
The former scored through Amani Reuben and Nasir Boyi that was converted by Rayvon Ambale who, also scored a penalty for the side.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the emphatic win, Butula High Head coach Shimenga Livondo was excited for his charges’ performance, dedicating the win to God.
“It was a tough game but we thank God for the win. They displayed their skills very well. We utilized opportunities well and managed the win. Our strong areas were the kicks which were in their 22, and through that we managed a center try. The secret is trusting in God in everything,” the coach disclosed.
HOCKEY
In the semifinal matches played at Hill School, Musingu High School of Western Kenya defeated Meru School 2-0. Musingu have proceeded to the final and will face St Anthony Kitale. The hockey matches went on despite the heavy rains.
According to Benard Lukuya who is Chief Principal Musingu High School, his students will take the title back to Kakamega. He also insisted that Musingu is back to winning ways.
“As a school we are happy that the boys have made us proud. I want to take this opportunity to thank the coaches and the boys who have worked tirelessly to ensure that this win comes home. I believe that they will take the title come tomorrow. Musingu is back, and we are here to be counted nationally and internationally. We are determined to take the trophy to Western,” he explained.
Coach Benson Wabuyabu on the other side disclosed that the difficult training was worth it eventually,
“We were with the boys. In fact, we were leaving the boys at 9pm. We psyched them up to the game. Yesterday, after winning 3-0 against Mang’u High, the boys were psyched that the trophy was coming home. We prepared them psychologically, and they went to the match with a winning mindset. We had many short corners that we did not utilize. We will utilize them tomorrow and take the trophy home,” he told Mozzart Sport.
St Anthony’s Kitale on the other hand are through to the finals after hitting Mang’u High School 4-3 in shootouts. The game ended 1-1 in regular time and officials called for shootouts to determine the winner.
BASKETBALL
Defending Champions Dr Aggrey are out of title contention after they lost 59-52 to Dagoretti High School. Nairobi-based Dagoretti High will tackle Laiser Hill in the finals. Laiser Hill won 68-36 over Lukenya High School.
