KPA test for Blades as KBF league continues

The dockers are out to defend the titles they won last season.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) men's league champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) open their season away to Strathmore Blades at Nyayo Indoor Arena on Saturday 25 June.

Coach Sammy Kiki's charges are out to get the 2022 season off to a positive start as they also get a chance to test their new signings on the court.

The Dockers have acquired the services of former Kenya Morans and Ulinzi Warriors point guard Joseph Khaemba as well as Embakassi Youth's (EMYBA) Eugene Adera

"With Ken Wachira unavailable for the better part of the first leg, we had to add to our depth in the department. The two are good players who come in with experience and are good additions to the team.

They get to team up with Tobias Odhiambo and Lennox Wanje and that gives us an edge over opponents," offered head coach Kiki.

Blades, on their part, look to continue their winning streak, having picked three wins in as many matches. They opened the season with a victory against Nairobi City Thunder before beating Umoja and Eldonets in their second and third matches.

Men's losing semi-finalists Equity Bank will also open their season with a clash against Thunder who are looking to continue from where they left, having picked their first victory last weekend against Africa Nazarene University (ANU).

Meanwhile KPA women's side faceoff with Strathmore Swords in a match the visitors are expected to dominate with ease as the Ronnie Owino-led varsity side is yet to find its mojo of yesteryears.

Eagle Wings take on Storms in the other women's match.
